Can fire cause the collapse of Plasco Building: A numerical investigation

چکیده

Since the tragic event of World Trade Centre (WTC), efforts to understand realistic fire behaviour in tall buildings are accelerated. It is critical dynamics involved a compartment before performing forensic investigation accident. In this paper, various scenarios considered simulate high-rise building and demonstrated case Plasco Building using computationally fluid (CFD). Two fuel distribution patterns assumed with different packing densities as clothes placed throughout scattered form (similar racks) densely packed stacked (stored cartons). observed that highly influences duration fire, peak temperatures, severity fire. The also affects spread both horizontal vertical directions, which helps understanding probable scenario responsible for collapse building. A subsequent heat transfer analysis an OpenSEES FE model conducted represent extent temperature reaching structural elements where data from FDS used thermal boundary conditions. Large variations members have been between two distributions, can be governing factor while analysing This paper provides insight into collapsed based on visual evidence.

Critical collapse of collisionless matter—a numerical investigation

In recent years the threshold of black hole formation in spherically symmetric gravitational collapse has been studied for a variety of matter models. In this paper the corresponding issue is investigated for a matter model significantly different from those considered so far in this context. We study the transition from dispersion to black hole formation in the collapse of collisionless matter...

Threat-Independent Column Removal and Fire-Induced Progressive Collapse: Numerical Study and Comparison

Progressive collapse is defined as the spread of an initial failure from element to element, eventually resulting in the collapse of an entire structure or a disproportionately large part of it. The current progressive collapse analyses and design methods in guidelines and codes focus on the alternate load path method. This method is suitable especially in the case of blast-induced progressive ...
